This is Labor Day and that means there are a number of closures.
That includes governmental offices, schools and some businesses.
City offices in Roseburg, Sutherlin, Winston, Myrtle Creek and other cities are all closed.
Douglas County government is closed including the Douglas County Courthouse and Justice Building, the Courthouse Annex in Reedsport, along with the landfill, transfer stations, museum and all other offices.
State and federal offices are shuttered and no regular mail will be delivered. Most banks and credit unions are closed though some in-store branches may be open.
Schools including Umpqua Community College are closed. UTrans buses will not operate.
Labor Day became a federal holiday in 1894 after being created by the labor movement in the late 19th century.
