The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Watch from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday evening for a wide area of southern Oregon and northern California.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford said high temperatures from around the upper 90s to around 108 are expected on Tuesday, with temperatures just a few degrees lower on Wednesday. Overnight lows into Wednesday morning will be in the 60s and much higher than normal.
The Excessive Heat Watch area is for most of Douglas, Jackson, Josephine and Siskiyou counties including Roseburg, Medford, Grants Pass and Yreka.
Forecasters said the conditions will increase the chance for heat related illnesses, especially for sensitive groups and for people without access to air conditioning. Heat stress is possible for livestock and outdoor pets.
Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.
