COMMISSIONERS SEEKING BOPTA APPLICANTS

July 24, 2019 9:50 a.m.
The Douglas County Board of Commissioners are seeking applicants for the Board of Property Tax Appeals.
A release from the commissioners said they are encouraging citizens interested in reviewing property assessments to submit an application for the term which runs from October 15, 2019, to June 30, 2020.
The release said BOPTA consists of 3 non-office holding residents of the county.
They also cannot be employees or members of a governing body of the county, or any taxing district inside the county. The group is responsible for hearing property tax appeals for reduction of the real market or assessed value of the property. A BOPTA board consists of three members that may rotate membership during the session. The number of BOPTA boards assigned will be based on the volume of appeals filed with the county.
Applications are available in the Board of Commissioner’s Office in room 217 of the courthouse or by calling 440-4201. Applications must be turned into the commissioner’s office no later than September 3rd. The appointment process will be completed by October 15th.
