SUMMER MEAL PROGRAMS CONTINUE

Free meal programs continue to serve children in Douglas County this summer as the state works to ensure that more families are reached.
Governor Kate Brown has declared this week as Summer Meals Week in Oregon to highlight the availability of summer food programs around the state. Roseburg Public Schools, Winston-Dillard School District, South Umpqua School District and Sutherlin School District are offering free summer meals. All children age 18 and younger can participate.
While more than 300,000 children are eligible for free or reduced lunch during the school year, less than 39,000 participate in the Summer Food Service Program, according to data from the Oregon Department of Education.

Following is a list of participating school districts in Douglas County and their program schedules.
ROSEBURG PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Lunchbox Express Sites (Monday through Friday until Aug. 16)

  • Saddle Butte: 11 to 11:20 a.m.
  • Faith Lutheran park area: 12:45 to 1:05 p.m.
  • Eastwood Park: 11:35 a.m. to noon
  • Stewart Park: 1:10 to 1:40 p.m.
  • Thompson Park next to Rose School: 12:05 to 12:30 p.m.

Additional Roseburg sites

  • Sunnyslope Elementary cafeteria: Lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Monday through Friday until Aug. 16)
  • Roseburg High cafeteria: Breakfast from 8:15 to 8:45 a.m. and lunch from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. (Monday through Thursday until Aug. 1)
