NEW SUPERINTENDENT TO LEAD FIRST BOARD MEETING

The new superintendent of the Roseburg School District will lead his first board meeting Wednesday night.
Jared Cordon officially started work on July 1st. Cordon is coming from the Beaverton School District where he held a number of administrative positions.
Re-elected board members will take their oath of office and the group will vote on who will be the chair and vice-chair of the board for the next 12 months. A number of routine actions will take place to officially name who will be the clerk, deputy clerk and who will handle other official actions for the district.
Matters that will be voted on include a request to purchase and install intercom and clock systems at Green Elementary and Winchester Elementary. That project is slated to cost just under $107,000. The board will vote on the purchase and installation of security cameras at a number of schools within the district. That could cost up to $150,000. The board will also vote on extending its contract with Sodexo America for nutrition services. Other items are on the agenda as well.
The board will meet at 6:00 p.m. in the district offices.
