HALF SHELL FEATURES GYPSY JAZZ

July 9, 2019 3:50 a.m.
Music on the Half Shell will feature what is called “gypsy jazz” on Tuesday night at the Nichol’s Band Shell in Roseburg’s Stewart Park.
John Jorgenson first garnered national attention in the mid-1980s as co-founder of the successful country-rock act, the Desert Rose Band. Now Jorgensen has four-award winning configurations, playing different styles of music.
The John Jorgenson Quintet features dynamic string-driven swing in a style created in 1930s Paris, France. Jorgenson’s compositions also draw in elements from Latin, Romanian, classical, rock and Greek music.
Those attending the concert can bring wine or beer, along with dinner, or can purchase a meal from one of the many food trucks and vendors on site. Half Shell shows are free to the public thanks to businesses, foundations and individuals that contribute to the series.
Music on the Half Shell begins at 7:00 p.m.
