MAN JAILED, ACCUSED OF STEALING A VEHICLE

A 26-year old man was jailed Friday, accused of stealing a vehicle in Canyonville.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said just after 12:00 p.m. the man reportedly tried several vehicle doors at Canyon Market. He gained access to an SUV, found an old key and started the vehicle according to the report. A security feature on the vehicle shut the engine off after only a few feet. The suspect was run off by witnesses.
The report said he was found at another nearly business where he may have been trying to get another vehicle.
The man was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, and for unlawful entry into a motor vehicle. He was initially detained on $106,250 bail. He was released from custody on Monday morning.
