GREEN SPUR FIRE SOUTHWEST OF SUTHERLIN

July 3, 2019 4:00 a.m.
Firefighters with the Douglas Forest Protective Association suppressed a holdover lightning fire on Tuesday morning.
Kyle Reed said the Green Spur Fire was located about 14 miles southwest of Sutherlin. It was found by a Bureau of Land Management employee who was working near Green Butte. Reed said crews stopped the fire at about ¼ of an acre of grass and brush.
Reed said with warm and dry weather in the forecast for the coming days, additional holdover fires from last week’s lightning storm may still pop up. DFPA will continue to monitor the lightning affected areas using a combination of aviation resources, ground resources, and DFPA’s fire detection cameras.
