INDUSTRIAL FIRE PRECAUTION LEVEL HAS INCREASED

July 1, 2019 5:35 a.m.
The Douglas Forest Protective Association has increased the Industrial Fire Precaution Level to IFPL II.
Kyle Reed of DFPA said the change applies to all private, county, state, Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of Indian Affairs land that is protected by the association.
Reed said the IFPL system is a set of fire restrictions for industrial operators and other forest workers who are working on the forestlands. During IFPL II, the following industrial activities are prohibited between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.:
*The use of power saws, except at loading sites.
*Feller-bunchers with rotary saw heads.
*Cable Yarding
*Blasting
*Cutting, grinding, or welding of metal
Reed said in addition, a fire watch of at least two hours is required during IFPL II once work is completed for the day. Some private landowners or public land management agencies may require a longer fire watch on the lands they own and manage.
