COUNTY PARTICIPATING IN OPERATION GREEN LIGHT TO HONOR VETERANS

November 2, 2026 3:50 a.m.

On Wednesday, Douglas County Commissioners announced that Douglas County will once again participate in Operation Green Light, a nationwide initiative led by the National Association of Counties to honor veterans and raise awareness of the challenges many face as they transition to civilian life.

A county release said throughout November, the front of the Douglas County Courthouse will be illuminated in green to demonstrate the county’s appreciation and support for veterans and their families. Residents, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to join the effort by placing a green light on a porch or outside light fixture.

Commissioners said this simple but powerful gesture sends a message of hope, gratitude, and support to those who have served the country. It also reinforces Douglas County’s commitment to its motto: “In Douglas County, We Honor Veterans!”
