October 22, 2026 10:20 a.m.

On Wednesday afternoon, Eugene Police arrested a man who was attempting to sell a stolen car to a dealership on Highway 99.

An EPD release said just before 2:30 p.m. officers were called to the dealership in the 400 block of Highway 99 after a man had come in and attempted to sell the dealer a 2025 Mazda CX for $15,000 – a vehicle estimated by the car dealer to be worth $35,000.

The car dealer said the low asking price was abnormal, so he ran the VIN number and found that the vehicle belonged to a dealership in Salem. The Eugene car dealer contacted the Salem dealership who said the vehicle had been stolen.  The Eugene car dealer then called police.

The suspect, identified as Lakhwinder Singh Gangar, 31, of Medford, left the car dealership on foot as soon as police arrived. He was located, detained, and found to have a baggie of a white crystal substance and a pipe in his shirt pocket. The substance field tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine.

Gangar also reportedly had a disassembled key fob on him. Parts of the key fob, were also located inside the vehicle.

Gangar was arrested and taken to the Lane County Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle and unlawful possession of methamphetamine.
