Cooler weather has come to the Umpqua Valley and will likely remain in place for the next week.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that showers and possible thunderstorms are expected through Friday afternoon. Then conditions will dry up for the foreseeable future. On the weekend, high temperatures will be near 70 degrees and should be in the low to mid 70s for next week. That is still below the normal high temperature range for this time of year.

The mercury reached 77 degrees on Thursday at the Roseburg Regional Airport. Roseburg received 0.47 inches of rain on Thursday, mostly in the two-hour period between 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
