A Roseburg man was taken to the hospital, following a bicycle versus SUV crash on Friday afternoon.

A Roseburg Police Department report said just before 3:30 p.m. officers responded to the incident near a business in the 3100 block of Northeast Stephens Street. Officers learned that the elderly driver from Bandon was exiting the parking lot of the store when an electric bike operated by a Roseburg man ran into the side of the SUV.

Officers learned the bicyclist was riding south in the northbound bike lane, and he last remembered looking down and then crashing into the vehicle. He was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for a broken leg and facial lacerations. The bicycle was damaged and was released to a family member. The SUV was not damaged and was driven away. The cyclist was later cited for improper use of a lane.
