The last rate increase for Roseburg Disposal services was over two years ago. Going into the upcoming new year, Roseburg residents can now expect another.

Starting January 1st, 2027, garbage service rates within Roseburg will increase by roughly 8% following a vote from the Roseburg City Council which passed a rate adjustment request from Roseburg Disposal at it’s meeting Monday night.

According to Roseburg Disposal President Dori John, the push for a rate adjustment is due to inflation increasing operational expenses, which she claims are currently outpacing the company’s revenue.

In a letter to the city, John said: “Inflation has significantly increased the cost of providing service, including wages, employee benefits, fuel, equipment maintenance, vehicle replacement, insurance and regulatory compliance,” John said, “To continue providing the level of service our customers expect while investing in our employees and equipment, we are requesting an 8% adjustment to our garbage service rates.”

Both city rates and county rates will see increases beginning at the start of the new year.

Previous rate adjustments took place in January 2021 and January 2024, with the latter’s increases ranging from 13.89% to 20% according to the council’s agenda.
