A new chapter is beginning for Sunrise Enterprises, as the local nonprofit is preparing to celebrate the grand opening of its new facility at 1931 Northwest Mulholland Drive in Roseburg.
A Sunrise release said the community grand opening celebration will be on Friday, September 18th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Community members, local businesses, families, partner organizations, and supporters are invited to tour the new space, meet the people who make Sunrise special and celebrate the organization’s continued growth in Douglas County.
The event will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, facility tours, refreshments, activities and opportunities to connect with Sunrise participants and staff.
With the new space, Sunrise will expand its Day Support Activities and community-based services, giving people with disabilities opportunities to develop skills, build confidence, strengthen relationships, and participate in meaningful activities throughout the community. The administrative offices of Sunrise Enterprises will remain at 423 Northeast Winchester Street.
Sunrise Executive Director Jane Maritz said, “This is so much more than opening a new location”. Maritz said, “It is about creating more opportunities for people to work, grow, connect, and belong. This new space allows us to reach more people and provide an environment where people can continue building skills, pursuing their goals, and being an active part of our community”.
For Sunrise, the expansion comes at a time when the need for inclusive community-based services continues to grow.
Employment Director Savannah Jones said, “Mulholland was created to bring people together: a place where job seekers can discover what’s possible, businesses can find great people, and our Day Support Activities participants have a space designed for connection, belonging, and meaningful experiences”.
The release said the grand opening is also an opportunity for the community to see firsthand the impact of Sunrise’s work and learn how local businesses and community members can become involved.
