A Tri City man has been jailed for online sex crime charges.

A Myrtle Creek Police report said on Friday, detectives began an investigation into an online conversation between 52-year-old Andrew Anthony Howren and a juvenile not known to him. Detective Kevin Taggart said during that conservation there were graphic sexual messages and photos allegedly sent to the juvenile by Howren. The conversation reportedly ultimately led to the two subjects making plans to meet for sexual contact.

Taggart said at about 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, Howren arrived at an undisclosed location to pick up the juvenile and was taken into custody without incident. Following an interview, Howren was transported to the Douglas County Jail and charged with online sexual corruption of a child in the first and second-degree and luring a minor. He was detained without bail.

Taggart said if anyone has had or noticed inappropriate contact with Howren online, they are asked to contact the Myrtle Creek Police Department. Taggart said parents are asked to monitor their child’s online activities and report anything suspicious to authorities.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the apprehension and arrest of Howren. Taggart said this is an ongoing investigation, and no more details will be released at this time.
