Low pressure in the region means cooler weather for the Umpqua Valley for the next week.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that highs will remain below seasonal norms. A high near 80 is expected for Friday, with Saturday dropping to the mid 70’s before the high returns to around 80 on Sunday, and the low 80s on Monday.

Forecasters said a stronger low-pressure system off the Gulf of Alaska will arrive on Tuesday or Wednesday. Weather models show the potential for light to possibly moderate rain from Tuesday through at least next Thursday but it’s too early to say just how much rain will fall. Temperatures will drop to ten degrees below normal with highs only in the mid 70’s.
