In the KQEN Cultural Spotlight:

Thrive Umpqua and Umpqua Valley Arts are presenting their monthly Third Thursday program this week.

It will take place on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in a relaxed open-house format where attendees can connect with others, unwind, and spend time creating. The event begins with a qigong class from 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. led by Suzie Shea. It is an ancient Chinese practice that combines slow movements, deep breather and focused meditation. From 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. participants will gather outside of Gallery 2 under the festival tents for beverages, light snacks, and a hands-on creative activity. This month, local artist Lisa Hubbard will lead “Bright Blooms”. Hubbard will show people how to use acrylic ink to flow, stain and spread vibrant blooms of color. Participants can then add lines, textures, and details with pencils, oil pastels and other tools.
