Roseburg Police jailed a man following an alleged strangulation incident early Monday morning.
An RPD report said at approximately 1:15 a.m. officers responded after a disturbance was called in at a motel in the 700 block of Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard. A victim told officers that 23-year-old Tanner Montalvo had strangled, punched and slapped her. Officers observed red marks around her neck consistent with being choked. The victim claimed to have pain on the right side of her face from being punched. She also had a clear handprint on her body from being slapped.
When questioned, Montalvo invoked his Miranda rights. He was detained without and transported to corrections. Montalvo was two felony counts of strangulation and fourth-degree assault. Bail was set at $3,000.
