A Heat Advisory remains in effect for central Douglas County through 11:00 p.m. Wednesday night as the Umpqua Valley may see the hottest day of the year so far.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford said hot temperatures of 95 to 100 degrees are expected with low temperatures of 60 to 65 degrees.

The Advisory area applies to the communities of Roseburg, Elkton, Drain, Sutherlin, Tiller, and Camas Valley.

Forecasters said hot temperatures will lead to a moderate risk of heat illnesses, especially for those without adequate cooling methods.

Periods of smoke could limit the ability to open windows for cooler air at night.

Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

The mercury reached 97 degrees on Tuesday at the Roseburg Regional Airport. Highs of around 100 degrees are forecast through Friday.
