Friday is expected to be the warmest day of the week for the Roseburg area, before the weekend cools, ahead of warmer weather returning.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that the high Friday should be just over 90 degrees as an upper ridge moves northward into the Umpqua Valley. A dry cold front and a deeper marine layer is expected to lead to highs in the low 80s on both Saturday and Sunday. That is several degrees below normal.
Forecasters said a thermal trough will mean afternoon highs in the low to mid 90s by Tuesday, several degrees above normal. Highs will likely stay in the 90s for the rest of the week.
The mercury reached 83 degrees at the Roseburg Regional Airport on Thursday. 88 degrees is the normal high for the date.
