Roseburg Police and deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man following an elude incident early Saturday morning.
An RPD report said at 12:50 a.m. officers attempted to stop a motorcycle for traffic violations in the 1100 block of Northwest Stewart Parkway, and the driver eluded. Officers pursued the motorcycle for several miles before terminating the pursuit because of the driver’s alleged reckless behavior. DCSO deputies located the motorcycle hours later and initiated another pursuit. Deputies were able to take the rider, identified as 18-year-old Dane Heredia, into custody on Highway 38 near milepost 22. Heredia admitted he eluded several officers and deputies and did so because he did not have insurance.
The man was charged with two counts each of reckless driving and attempting to elude police in a vehicle. Heredia was detained without bail,.
