Firefighters with Central Douglas Fire & Rescue are conducting hydrant flushing and testing around the district.
Fire Marshal Josh Waechter said that includes the communities of Dixonville, Green, Melrose, Wilbur, Winston, Garden Valley and Umpqua, as well as unincorporated areas near the City of Roseburg. Waechter said testing is being conducted from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays, and from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Fridays.
During the process, water discoloration may occur depending on how severe the sediment in the water mains is, but Waechter said the water is still safe to drink. Residents who experience issues with their water during this time should run water through the faucets until it is clear.
