Drivers in the Green District should watch for nighttime road closures and detours this week as the Oregon Department of Transportation and prime contractor Rocky Mountain Construction pave local road approaches at two Oregon 42 intersections.
Dan Latham of ODOT said paving work is scheduled from 7:00 p.m.to 7:00 a.m. each night, though the contractor may adjust the hours and set up traffic control devices ahead of time.
Latham said local detours will be provided at each location:
*Roberts Creek Road on Tuesday night: When the north end of Roberts Creek Road is closed at the highway, local drivers can detour through Brittney Avenue and Grange Road to connect with Oregon 42.
*Old Highway 99 on Wednesday night: When Old Highway 99 is closed at the Oregon 42 intersection, local drivers can use Happy Valley Road and Carnes Road to reach Oregon 42.
*Grant Smith Road on Thursday night: When the west end of Grant Smith Road is closed at the highway, drivers can take Ingram Drive, Speedway Road and Old Highway 99 to reach Oregon 42.
Latham said most approaches are fairly short, about 20-30 feet, and may be completed before sunrise. The Old Highway 99 approach is much longer and will likely take the full night.
Paving schedules are subject to change without notice, but ODOT will attempt to keep the local community informed of any changes. Drivers are encouraged to watch roadside message boards at each end of the work area.
On Tuesday and Wednesday nights, the northbound off-ramp at Winston Exit 119 is scheduled to be closed from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. for deep pavement repairs. Latham said trucks are advised to continue north to the West Harvard Avenue Exit 124 and turn around to reach Exit 119 from the southbound direction. Smaller vehicles can use the nearer freeway interchanges to turn around.
