ROSEBURG MAN JAILED AFTER HIGH-SPEED FREEWAY INCIDENT

A Roseburg man was jailed after a high-speed freeway incident early Saturday morning.

An OSP report said just after 12:00 a.m. troopers responded to a two-vehicle injury accident on Interstate Five northbound near the Garden Valley Boulevard Exit 125. A sedan traveling at a high rate of speed, allegedly side-swiped a motorcycle, causing the rider to become detached from the motorcycle. The rider was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center.

The driver of the sedan, 23-year-old Juan Luis Hernandez-Webb, was found to be impaired and invoked his right to an attorney. Henandez-Webb was arrested and a search warrant was applied for and signed to seize his breath and blood. The man submitted to a breath test hours after the crash showing a blood alcohol content level of 0.03 percent.

Hernandez-Webb was charged with fourth-degree assault, driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving. He was detained without bail.
