The Glide Wildflower Show is taking place this Saturday and Sunday at the Glide Community Center.
It is the largest and oldest collection of native plants in the Pacific Northwest. Over 500 species of flowers, shrubs, trees, grasses, ferns, lichens and mosses will be on display. The collection area extends to the coast and the California border.
Doors open both days at 9:00 a.m. with a special opening at 8:00 a.m. for photographers only. In addition to the display, there will be a guided wildflower walk on both days. Special speakers will give presentations on geographical aspects of botany, using native plants in landscaping and Pacific Northwest medicinal and edible plants. Flora books and guides will be on sale.
Food will be available, including homemade pies. There is also a display of beekeeping and native plants, and seeds can be purchased.
