The Glide Wildflower Show is coming on Saturday and Sunday, April 25th and 26th at the Glide Community Center.
It is the largest and oldest collection of native plants in the Pacific Northwest. 500 species of flowers, shrubs, trees, grasses, ferns, lichens and mosses are artfully displayed. The collection area covers Douglas County and extends to the coast and the California border.
Doors open both days at 9:00 a.m. with a special 8:00 a.m. opening for photographers only. In addition to the display, there will be a guided wildflower walk on both days. Special speakers will give presentations on geographical aspects of botany, using native plants in landscaping and Pacific Northwest medicinal and edible plants. Flora books and guides are for sale, and food is available, including homemade pies.
