Roseburg Police cited and released a man for two incidents that occurred in a three-day period.

An RPD report said April 7th, the 68-year-old had allegedly stolen a motorized shopping cart from a store in the 900 block of Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard and had driven it to the Interstate 5 southbound on-ramp at Garden Valley Boulevard. The man was found by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in Canyonville the next day. He admitted to committing the theft and said he didn’t want to walk, so he had taken the cart. The man was charged with first-degree theft and was cited and released from CHI Mercy Medical Center due to medical concerns.

Early Friday morning just after 4:00 a.m. officers contacted the man after he reportedly returned to a store in the 2700 block of Northwest Stewart Parkway after previously being trespassed and urinated on the front sidewalk of the business. Officers were aware that the man was not allowed on the property. He was charged with second-degree criminal trespass and public urination. The man was released due to medical circumstances.
