ROSEBURG POLICE JAIL MAN FOR REPORTED CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

Roseburg Police jailed a man for reported criminal mischief early Sunday morning.

An RPD report said shortly before 2:15 a.m. officers contacted the 42-year-old after a caller said he was damaging the trash compactor at a business in the 2100 block of Northwest Stewart Parkway. During the contact with the suspect, he reportedly admitted to attempting to get into the trash compactor utilizing an angle grinder. The man showed officers where he had cut a half inch steel rod on the hydraulic arm that was also secured by a master lock.

The man was charged with second-degree criminal mischief. He was detained without bail and was released on Monday.
