Roseburg Police jailed a woman following a reported theft incident on Tuesday.

An RPD report said at 9:30 a.m. an officer saw the 49-year-old pushing a Walmart shopping cart in the downtown area but was unable to stop the woman at that time and unable to locate her after that. The woman’s probation officer detained her when she checked in at the probation office.

The probation officer contacted officers and said the shopping cart had been parked outside of the courthouse in the 1000 block of Southeast Douglas Avenue, with the woman’s possessions still in it. An officer recovered shopping cart and disposed of the things in it, as they were soaked in urine. The cart was placed at the parks department storage area with other Walmart carts awaiting pickup from the store.

The woman was charged with third-degree theft and two probation violations. Bail was set at $6,250.
