Roseburg Police jailed a man for an alleged harassment incident on Wednesday.
An RPD report said at 1:30 p.m. the 50-year-old and a victim were involved in a physical disturbance as the victim was in the driver’s seat of a vehicle, and the suspect stood outside the driver’s door. This was at Gaddis Park in the 800 block of Northwest Highland Street. While the man was trying to get his phone from inside the vehicle, he reportedly struck the victim under her eye, causing pain and swelling. The suspect was also reportedly in possession of a large machete, which is prohibited in the park.
The man was charged with harassment and second-degree disorderly conduct. Bail was set at $5,000. He was cited for having prohibited weapons and tools on city real property. His dog was taken to Saving Grace Humane Society.
