Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a woman for the theft of a sandwich on Monday afternoon.

A DCSO report said at 2:40 p.m. the 54-year-old old was seen on security footage stealing the deli item, which cost $7.20, from a store in the 100 block of Main Street in Riddle. The woman was taken into custody. She allegedly admitted to stealing the sandwich but said she did not know why she wanted to steal it.

The woman was transported to corrections and charged with third-degree theft. She was detained on $1,250 bail. The woman was released on Tuesday.
