The Douglas Forest Protective Association is now accepting applications for the 2026 fire season.
A DFPA release said the agency has been dedicated to protecting lives, resources, and property from wildland fires through practical prevention and aggressive fire suppression since 1912. DFPA has several seasonal roles available:
*Wildland firefighter
*Wildland fire dispatcher and
*Wildfire detection camera operator
Applicants must be at least 18 years old by July 1st to be considered. No experience is necessary. Training will be provided upon hiring.
Application reviews will be in April, with interviews scheduled for May. Onboarding will begin in June.
A pre-employment drug screen is conducted for all potential employees, including THC screening.
