Roseburg Police jailed a man on the charge of third-degree theft and for a parole violation on Thursday.

An RPD report said at 11:40 a.m. officers contacted the 52-year-old at a store in the 700 block of Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard. The man had been detained by loss prevention employees for stealing $3.99 in merchandise. His parole officer was contacted and a detainer was authorized. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to corrections. Bail was set at $1,250. The man was released later in the day.
