OSP TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO SEIZURE OF OVER 40 POUNDS OF METHAMPETAMINE

A weekend traffic stop by a trooper with Oregon State Police led to the seizure of over 40 pounds of methamphetamine.

Information from OSP released late Tuesday said on Saturday just before 11:00 a.m. a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle heading northbound on Interstate Five near milepost 168 in the Cottage Grove area. The trooper observed indicators of potential criminal activity.

During a consent search of the vehicle, a duffel bag was found in the trunk containing forty resealable plastic bags filled with methamphetamine, weighing a total of 40.5 pounds.

The driver was taken into custody and arrested on charges of possession and distribution of methamphetamine. His name was not released by OSP.

The case remains under investigation. No additional information has been released by Oregon State Police.
