The United Community Action Network will launch its 7th annual Cheese and Thank You fundraiser this Saturday.
A UCAN release said through the month of March, 19 local restaurants in the county are participating. The campaign brings together the community to enjoy cheesy creations while raising vital funds for the local food pantries.
To begin, UCAN will be at the Columbia Bank downtown Roseburg branch at 445 Southeast Main Street, where the official launch will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The family-friendly celebration will feature free grilled cheese sandwiches and the distribution of this year’s Cheese and Thank You passports. UCAN’s food barrel will be at the event as well, for any who wants to donate non-perishable goods to the food bank.
Beginning on March 1st, participants can purchase featured cheesy dishes from a variety of local eateries throughout the county. For every Cheese and Thank You menu item purchased during the month of March, participating restaurants will donate $2 to the UCAN Food Bank.
Passport holders collect stamps from participating restaurants, and for every 5 stamps they have, one entry will go into a drawing for a $150 Sherm’s Thunderbird Market gift certificate. Completed passports can be dropped off at the UCAN Garden Valley Service Center at 251 Northeast Garden Valley Boulevard on weekdays. Participants can also email a picture of their completed passport to: communityengagement@ucancap.org by Friday, April 10th. Gift cards to participating restaurants are also being given away as well.
