FLOOD WATCH MONDAY EVENING THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING

February 23, 2026 11:00 a.m.

A Flood Watch is in effect from 10:00 p.m. Monday evening through 10:00 p.m. Wednesday evening for a wide area of southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford said flooding caused by excessive rainfall and snowmelt is possible.

The Watch area includes western and central Douglas County along with Coos, Curry, Josephine and Jackson counties. It includes all small drainages, creeks, and streams, especially those where melting snow may contribute to high runoff.

Forecasters said excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

Heavy rain is expected through Tuesday, and with high snow levels, snow melt from any residual snowpack in the hills and mountains may contribute to excessive runoff, leading to rapid rises on area creeks and streams.

Residents should be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
