Roseburg Police jailed a man for an alleged assault incident on Saturday morning.

An RPD report said at 7:50 a.m. officers responded to a physical altercation between a 49-year-old suspect and a victim in the 500 block of Southeast Lane Avenue. When officers arrived, they learned that the suspect had left the area on foot.

Officers contacted the victim who had sustained serious injuries to the inside of his lip, swelling to his cheek and complained of feeling dizzy. Due to those injuries, he was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center. The man was listed in stable condition at last check, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Officers later contacted the suspect near the 500 block of Northeast Stephens Street. He was arrested without issue and transported to corrections. The man was charged with fourth-degree assault and a parole violation. Bail was set at $6,250.
