WINTER STORM WARNING/WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY THROUGH THURSDAY

A Winter Storm Warning above 1,500 feet and a Winter Weather Advisory below 1,500 feet are in effect through 10:00 a.m. Thursday for central Douglas County.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford said the Winter Storm Warning is in place for the communities of Glendale and Tiller as well as portions of Interstate Five south of Canyonville and includes Canyon Creek Pass on Interstate Five around 2,000 feet. 5 to 10 inches of snow is expected with 10 to 18 inches above 2,500 feet.

The Winter Weather Advisory is for the communities of Roseburg, Sutherlin, Elkton, Camas Valley and Canyonville as well as portions of Interstate Five including Roberts Mountain Pass on Interstate Five at 1,000 feet, and highways 42 and 130. A half inch to two inches of snow is expected, except 3 to 6 inches in the Camas Valley area.

Forecasters said travel may be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes. The heaviest snow is expected Tuesday morning. Secondarily, additional accumulations are also forecast for Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Otherwise, occasional snow showers are possible late Tuesday through Wednesday.
