NATIONAL FOREST ANNOUNCES SEASONAL HIRING FOR RECREATION SEASON

The Umpqua National Forest is hiring seasonal employees for the upcoming recreation season and is encouraging local residents to apply.

A UNF release said people interested in applying will need to establish accounts on: https://www.usajobs.gov/ and prepare a resume that meets requirements. USAJOBS has a page dedicated to creating an account. Potential applicants must be 18 years old by their first day of work.

Umpqua National Forest Deputy Forest Supervisor Jake Winn said, “Our seasonal employees are the backbone of summer operations – keeping our campgrounds, trails, and recreation sites open, safe and welcoming for visitors”. Winn said, “These positions offer meaningful work, hands-on experience, and the chance to support public lands close to home”.

The UNF is recruiting for a variety of roles, including:

*Recreation and visitor services

*Trail and facility maintenance

*Active resource management with timber.

Open positions will be posted as early as February 20th. Duty locations for the UNF include Glide, Idleyld Park, Roseburg, and Tiller. These positions are in addition to seasonal fire hire events, already underway. Bringing on seasonal employees will help improve trails, campgrounds, and facilities for safer, reliable and enjoyable recreation experiences for all.

Winn said, “Seasonal jobs can be a first step into a natural resources career, a way to build experience or simply a chance to spend the summer working outside”. Winn said, “We encourage anyone interested to apply”.
