Winston Police recently jailed a man on 23 charges, in connection with a shooting that allegedly took place in mid-January.
A WPD report released on Monday said on January 17th, officers began investigating a drive-by shooting that had reportedly taken place in the 300 block of Southeast Darrell Street. Through the investigation, officers determined that 19-year-old Trever Villarreal was a suspect in the shooting.
On January 25th, officers executed multiple search warrants and seized a firearm. Villarreal was taken into custody without incident at that time. He was held on three counts of unlawful use of a weapon, seven counts of recklessly endangering another person, five counts of menacing, five counts of attempted assault in the first-degree, reckless driving, second-degree criminal mischief and theft by receiving. After arraignment, bail was set at $2,500. Villarreal was released on January 26th.
Winston Police Department was assisted by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
