Roseburg Police jailed two people for a criminal count of prohibited camping and littering within 100 yards of a waterway on Wednesday.

An RPD report said at 9:10 a.m. while assisting with camp cleanups, the 39-year-old woman and 38-year-old man were found camping inside a fenced storage area behind a business in the 2400 block of Northwest Stewart Parkway. The area was covered in trash including trash scattered outside the fenced area. The location was within 100 yards of Newton Creek, which runs along Charles Gardiner Park and behind the business. Both had criminal camping convictions that elevated prohibited camping to criminal.

In addition, the woman had a Roseburg municipal court warrant for failing to appear on a camping citation. She was detained on $18,750 bail. The man was held on $5,000 bail.
