State Representative Boomer Wright has announced his retirement from the Oregon State Legislature after 2026.
The ninth district Republican has represented parts of Coos, Lane and Douglas County – including the Reedsport area, since 2020.
In a release Wright said, “I thank all of you for the support, friendship, advice and opportunities provided over the last three terms. I have truly enjoyed my time working as your State Representative and it has been an honor to represent District #9 and all Oregonians in Salem”.
Wright is endorsing Oregon House Republican’s legislative director Claire Lynn to take his seat. Wright said, “Claire has significant legislative experience in Oregon and Washington D.C., was raised on the coast, understands Oregon politics, and is an incredibly hard worker with coastal common sense and a positive attitude”.
Wright said over the next year he will do everything he can to complete current projects through 2026 and work to support those who will take over his duties in 2027.
Wright was a teacher, coach and principal in the Siuslaw School District from 1972-1999. He was the superintendent in the Mapleton School District from 1999 to 2002. Wright later worked as the general manager of Sea Lion Caves from 2011 to 2016.
