SEIZED DOGS RELEASED INTO SAVING GRACE’S CUSTODY: READY FOR ADOPTION

Saving Grace Humane Society has announced an update about the 17 dogs brought into their care in August through a coordinated effort with the Roseburg Police Department and Douglas County Animal Control.

A Saving Grace release said after several months in the shelter receiving consistent medical care, enrichment and patient connection with its team, all of the animals have been legally released to Saving Grace. This allows the non-profit to begin the final and most meaningful phase of their journey: finding adoptive families where each dog can continue to grow and thrive.

In mid-August, Saving Grace staff responded to back-to-back calls requesting assistance from local authorities. Working alongside officers and animal control, their staff helped safely remove 17 dogs and transport them to the shelter, where they have remained under the organization’s care during the legal process.

Saving Grace Executive Director Jennifer Barta said, “We’ve had the privilege of watching their personalities blossom and getting to know them while they’ve been with us. Some are playful and goofy, some are gentle and observant and all of them are discovering how much they enjoy human companionship.”  Barta said, “Each one has something special to offer, and we’re excited to help them find loving homes”.

Throughout their time at Saving Grace, the dogs have benefited from routine daily care, socialization and gentle guidance. Staff and volunteers have spent time learning each dog’s preferences, and behavior patterns – information that can now be used to support thoughtful adoption matches.

All 17 dogs are now officially available for adoption on a first-come, first-served basis. Because their past is largely unknown, adopters should be prepared to offer patience, structure, and ongoing support as the dogs settle into home life. Saving Grace Canine Team members will provide guidance to help adopters set their new companions up for success.

For more information about the available dogs or the adoption process, Saving Grace is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Details are also online at: https://savinggracehumanesociety.org/
