TRANSIENT JAILED AFTER STOLEN VEHICLE WAS RECOVERED

A transient was jailed after a stolen vehicle was recovered on Saturday afternoon.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 3:45 p.m. while driving on Interstate Five southbound near the Quines Creek Road/Barton Road exit in the Azalea area, a deputy got behind a sedan and learned that it had been stolen that morning in Milwaukie. A 21-year-old man, identified as Junior Avalos-Martinez was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.

Avalos-Martinez admitted to stealing the vehicle and was reportedly found to be in possession of a user amount of methamphetamine. He was taken into custody and charged with being in possession of a stolen vehicle, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of methamphetamine and for warrants. Avalos-Martinez was detained without bail.
