ROSEBURG AREA MAN JAILED FOR ALLEGED HIT AND RUN INCIDENT

A Roseburg area man was jailed for an alleged hit and run incident on Friday evening.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 6:00 p.m. a victim was stopped in the roadway, waiting to turn into her driveway in the 3000 block of Carnes Road in the Green District. Before she was able to turn, a sedan reportedly drove into the back of her vehicle, causing damage and the rear bumper to fall off. The driver then allegedly drove past her and left the scene.

The driver who caused the collision was located a short distance away after his vehicle was seen in a driveway. The 36-year-old suspect was charged with a misdemeanor count of hit and run and reckless driving. He was detained without bail.
