December 31, 2025 9:40 a.m.

A California teen was cited after eluding police in a sports car on Tuesday evening.

A Myrtle Creek Police report said just after 6:45 p.m. an officer attempted to stop a 2024 red Corvette for speeding on Interstate 5 southbound near milepost 106. The vehicle accelerated to well over 130 miles per hour. The officer lost sight of the sports car as it traveled out Riddle Bypass Road at speeds much above the posted speed limit.

Approximately five minutes later, a deputy with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office located the Corvette parked on Glenbrook Loop Road near Riddle Bypass Road. It was occupied by two males who appeared to be attempting to remove the rear license plate. The 17-year-old admitted to driving and admitted to seeing the officer attempting to stop him before accelerating. A parent was contacted and he was cited and released to an adult.
