Roseburg Police jailed a man on Saturday for an alleged prior burglary incident.
An RPD report said on December 22nd, officers were dispatched to a home in the 1000 block of West Winter Ridge Road after a victim claimed that she had returned home and found an unknown male all dressed in black in a family member’s bedroom. The victim ran to a neighbor’s house to call 911.
The suspect fled the residence before officers arrived and law enforcement was unable to locate him. After an investigation, officers determined that the male had entered the residence after prying open a window screen and had stolen several gold and diamond necklaces from within. One of the necklaces was described as extremely unique and featured a unicorn pendant. Officers located a wallet below the window, which contained an Oregon identification card belonging to Dakota Miars.
On Saturday, officers contacted Miars, aged 35, at Douglas County Corrections after he was taken into custody in a separate case. Miars would not provide any additional information to officers and was booked into custody. He was charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree counts of theft, and criminal mischief and two parole violations. Bail was set at $40,000.
