A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10:00 p.m. Friday for mountain areas in parts of southern Oregon.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford said snow is expected for elevations above 4,500 feet in the Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains. Additional accumulations of 3 to 9 inches are forecast with winds gusting as high as 40 miles per hour over high and exposed terrain.
The Advisory area includes Crater Lake, Diamond Lake, and Howard Prairie. It applies to mountain passes on highways 140, 138, 230, 46 and 58.
Forecasters said drivers should plan on slippery road conditions and delays in the trip. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning and evening commutes. Wet slushy roads could turn icy.
