Roseburg Police jailed a man for a warrant and for providing false information to a peace officer, on Saturday night.

An RPD report said at 8:15 p.m. the 47-year-old was contacted by officers outside a business in the 300 block of Northeast Stephens Street, during a search for a suspect from an unrelated incident. The man matched the description of the suspect officers were searching for and they had reasonable suspicion to detain and question him.

While speaking to officers, the man provided a false name multiple times and was warned that it was a crime to do so. The man maintained that the false information he provided was accurate. After officers determined his actual identity, they learned he had a warrant for his arrest. The warrant was confirmed and the man was detained without incident. Bail was set at $6,000.
